Final Reflection

This course has caused me to think outside the box and work towards bettering myself as the semester went on. There were countless key moments in this class and to just choose between a few is a little difficult! I think that I'm most proud of accomplishing was when I completed the "Growing Your Social Capital" assignment. This assignment forced me to go out and find ways to reach people of power and in high places. Being able to contact and conversate with these important people about something I was working on really opened doors I never would have thought to be there. My most joyous moment can't really be pinned down. I am a very social person, so being able to interact with my classmates in a way that I don't normally get to in a normal class scenario was awesome! I can't say that I am an entrepreneur as of right now, but I have definitely moved a few steps in the right direction. Every problem is an opportunity! Advise: For all those who are even...

Opportunity: There is opportunity in everything that we do. Nothing is perfect and everything can be improved. My idea is based on the idea that an opportunity exists in every major city that has highways which become constantly congested. Traffic is a constant in major cities. I am currently writing this paper from out of town in New Jersey and in order to get to my hotel we passed three separate accidents on the way over. There were no express lanes available and so our options were to sit it out and wait and suffer with the majority of people, or find an alternate route which would take us way out of the way and add unnecessary mileage and gas expense to our car. Everyone with a car or other mode of motor transportation runs into this problem. The most common issue arises in family households in cities where the parents need to commute to and from a job that isn’t right next door to where they live. No one enjoys waiting in their car in the hot or cold weather for extended ...

Your Exit Strategy

Just as a reminder, my idea was to put more express lanes in areas where there are an insufficient amount or none at all, where traffic is a constant. Once the venture concept has been brought to life and my services were a reality, I would have put in wayyyy to much work to just sell it. And because once it's made, the profits are pretty much going to be constant as long as we have cars running on roads and not space ships flying through the sky as a normal means of transport. The plan is to make a service that's unique and would be extremely incentivizing for customers to use. And if successful, I could easily make a name for myself in this world, where that seems to be the goal of most people. I think that because I'm deciding to maintain control over the service, I am more inclined to put my absolute best efforts into it. It's going to be something that defines me, and because of that, I need the definition to be a good one! It has influenced t...

Reading Reflection No. 3

The Art of Social Media by Guy Kawasaki 1. Theme. This book is about controlling social media and using it as a beneficial tool for you and your business. 2. How did it enhance my ENT experience? ENT has so many applications to it that it is hard to absorb all of them in one class. Even at the end of this class there are so many other things that we have yet to learn. However reading this book has opened my eyes to another side of entrepreneurship.  When I think Entrepreneurship, I think exclusively of a business and the business side of things. I tend to hop over the marketing aspect and the role that social media can play in shedding your company in a positive light.  A big part of the book was what was known as the "Feeding the Content Monster". This is providing enough content for your followers to keep them entertained and into your program. Making quality content takes time, so it's essential to find other quality content elsewhere and put your ...

Celebrating Failure

1. Fortnite. The game that seems to be taking the world by storm. I can guarantee that more than half of this class is playing the game currently as I'm typing this haha. Getting a Victory Royale is no simple feat. There is a lot of strategy and a lot of luck involved in the game and because there is always a different outcome it never gets old. 99 players lose every game out of 100, and I'm normally on the shit end of the stick! Game after game, loss after loss after loss. 2. But every loss isn't in vain! Every time there is an opportunity to improve upon the way I play I can! Learning to build faster, organize my inventory, play strategically, and get high ground comes with practice. As with most games, this is a test of trial and error until you do everything correctly! Learning is a big part of it, and as they continue to update and add more things, there are more things to learn from losing every game! 3. Failure is something that seems to be a constant for most ...

What's Next?

Existing Market: After describing my business venture to a few people who are already using the service of express lanes on a regular basis, they all seemed intrigued and generally happy with the idea. All were accepting and had no argument against using express lanes that I put up in areas where they are needed. Essentially what I got was a go ahead from them all. However once I asked what I should be doing that isn't being done currently by other express lanes, I seemed to hit a wall. Express lanes have been around for quite some time and they are essentially all the same. There aren't many differentiations besides where they are and occasionally price. However a few pitches from the current customers hit the wall and stuck with me! One such idea was to create a more colorful express lane so that it is more enticing than the dull and boring express lanes already in place. New Market: Now this took some time to think of. I believe my idea of having the different levels ...
