Halfway Reflection

This is my first semester at UF, and there are a lot of big changes that you have to take into consideration. Coming from a smaller community college where minimal effort was required, I was not initially prepared for the amount of work and juggling all my classes as I should have been. However, you start to get in the groove of things after awhile.

1. Make sure that you do everything in a timely manner. You do not want to be a procrastinator because it is easy to fall behind. Time management is a major factor when it comes to your school work! Make sure you stay ahead so if something comes up you don't fall behind in your work. Life is unpredictable so prepare for the unknown as best you can.

2. Being able to balance your school work, job, moving into a new place, and moving far away from everyone you know can be extremely stressful. It is easy to look back and say, "I want to go back, this is too much and it was easier before." But if you do that you will never succeed. Life is full of challenges and you are placed here to conquer every single obstacle and become something great. Look towards what you want to be and don't give up. No matter what it takes, keep fighting.

3. Tips:
  1.  There are so many obstacles in your path that lie ahead of you, and if you focus on all of them at one time, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged. If you focus on one obstacle on a time and say you will complete this one small task before moving on to the next, your life will be so much easier and a lot less stressful.
  2. Don't give up just because things get hard or you feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed. Change is a constant part of life, and you need to learn to adapt to what is thrown your way. Work with what you have, don't dwell on what you don't.
  3. You are here for a reason. Not because it's fun or because you would rather be watching lectures and studying than out with friends or relaxing on a beach. You have a dream of becoming something bigger than you are right now, and college is going to help you get there. If you lack other sources of motivation, use that for the time being!
